Brabus was registered in Bottrop in 1977 by Bodo Buschmann together with his friend Klaus Brackmann, who was needed to satisfy a German requirement for two founders. Brackmann soon sold his shares back to Buschmann, who built the firm into the world's leading independent tuner of Mercedes-Benz cars.
